"Run for The Vets" Benefits Local Heroes

On Sunday, October 2, team members from Prairie Northern Illinois hosted a road rally to benefit the Manteno Veterans Home.

Perfect fall weather and a blessing from Pastor Terry ensured a strong start for the 50-mile trip from Prairie headquarters to the veterans’ residence. More than 125 motorcycles, 5 antique and vintage “muscle” cars and 10 other vehicles made the drive, with local police departments guiding everyone safely through major intersections along the route.

Special thanks go to Prairie team members Tony Scott and Marybeth Maciarz, who took the lead in organizing this year’s event. Ray Jachim manned the Prairie cooker while Tim Reidy and members of Tony Scott’s family helped out with food and refreshments. Support from the Lion’s Club and Prairie volunteers made the event a success.

Thanks to generous gifts from Prairie team members, their friends and families, a total of $4,150 was raised to benefit the home, along with boxes of goods to support daily operations.
